Engine oil and filter
Match both the oil grade and specification to this engine. Check the refill conditions before buying oil, then use the dipstick to confirm the final level.
IntervalNormal: oil every 10,000 mi or 1 year; filter every 20,000 mi or 1 year. Severe: oil every 5,000 mi or 6 months. Whichever comes first; severe filter interval remains body-specific and unresolved.Verified

Configuration-specific service and fitment facts
These sourced values are shared by the specification sheet and the maintenance guides for this exact configuration.
- Engine oil viscosity
- SAE 5W-20 Verified
- Engine oil specification
- Premium-grade detergent oil with the API Certification Seal for gasoline engines Verified
- Conditional engine oil refill
- Oil change including filter: U.S. DX/LX 3.2 L; EX and coupe HX 3.5 L. Retail trim is unresolved for generic EPA records. Excludes oil remaining in the engine; check the dipstick after running, checking for leaks and waiting several minutes. Verified
- Engine oil drain washer
- Install a new drain-bolt washer Verified
- Refill and filter
- A filter change, a top-up and a dry engine fill are different quantities. Match the filter and drain washer to the engine/VIN; check for leaks after servicing.
- Schedule applicability
- U.S. schedule. Use severe conditions when driving mainly on trips under 5 miles (under 10 miles in freezing weather), above 90°F/32°C, with extensive idling or stop-and-go driving, a roof rack or mountain roads, or muddy, dusty or de-iced roads. Occasional severe use follows normal conditions.
- Refill and filter limits
- Use a new drain washer and verify the dipstick. The manuals disagree on severe oil-filter scheduling: sedan explicitly says oil and filter every 5,000 mi/6 months; coupe places filter dots at 10,000-mi steps and omits it from the severe checklist. Confirm the correct body manual before choosing a severe filter interval. Drain torque is retail-trim dependent; the coupe procedure does not explicitly label HX torque.
